Your First Week

Edited

A day-by-day plan for building confidence and making steady progress.

Day 1: Get Comfortable (30–45 minutes)

• Log in and spend 5 minutes exploring your Dashboard

• Click “High Priority” to see what is genuinely urgent

• Click on your main workflow (left panel) to see the big picture

• Complete the five quick wins above if you have not already

• Watch how your Dashboard updates as you complete tasks

Day 2: Understand Your Workflows and Tasks (30–45 minutes)

• Open your main workflow on the left panel and click through all its steps

• Look at “High Priority” tasks and note which ones have the earliest deadlines

• Read your Society Profile page — what information is already there? What is missing?

• Identify the three highest-priority tasks for next week

Day 3: Start Your Main Work (30 minutes)

If you are reregistering: Start with Society Information — add all contact persons, confirm your registered office address, review and update society details.

If you are managing ongoing compliance: Review your annual cycle. Are your financial records up to date? Has the AGM been scheduled? Pick one item that is due soon and complete it.

Day 4: Bring Your Committee In (30 minutes)

• Decide who handles what: Treasurer (finances), Secretary (members and meetings), Chair (constitution and coordination)

• Invite committee members to set up their own WiseComply accounts

• Start delegating tasks (e.g., “Treasurer, can you confirm our balance date?”)

Day 5: Review Progress and Plan Your Routine (45 minutes)

• Check your Dashboard status cards — they should have improved since Day 1

• Review your main workflow and note which tasks are done

• Plan a Monday morning check-in habit: 15 minutes each Monday to check “Due This Week” and pick top priorities

• Establish a sustainable routine: 15 minutes on Monday, 30 minutes mid-week, a wrap-up on Friday

Key Things to Remember:

• Save your work. Most pages require clicking “Save” before navigating away. Some sections auto-save, but do not assume.

• WiseComply helps you prepare, but does not submit for you. You will prepare information in WiseComply, then submit to government portals (societies.govt.nz and charities.govt.nz if applicable) separately.

• Use Ask WiseComply AI. Click it in the left menu for questions about legal requirements, deadlines, and what things mean.

• You do not have to be perfect. Upload a draft constitution and refine it later. Add what member information you have now and fill in gaps later. Progress beats perfection.

• Delegate to your committee. Your Treasurer knows finances, your Secretary knows members — use that knowledge.
